Apologies for the short post, but this is just a brief rundown of the last two hectic months:
Rachel survived grad school and graduated May 10 - in attendance were her parents, grandparents, and bored-looking husband. Following the ceremony, Loyola put on a very nice spread for the graduates and their families. We gave the grandparents a packed tour of Chicago and all of its fine eating establishments as best we could. Then, we got down to the business of ensuring that Brandon turned in his thesis on time! It turned out to be a huge success with his committee, so Brandon was able to graduate in June. Note that we attended TWO ceremonies for Brandon - and his parents drove up from Saint Matthews for the occassion. Then, Brandon's parents and Rachel's parents overlapped for one giant Father's Day Feast that Sunday afternoon. Rachel's parents stayed for two days, touring a little and becoming CSIs for a day, and flew back home to Thailand.
So, two days later, we packed up our car and our dog and hit the road for Rachel's last great summer adventure before she joins the working world (and supports her student-for-life husband)! We are currently helping out in the TV shop in Saint Matthews, cooking, eating, and pretending to relax (when we really have a dozen projects going on at once). Next stop: Charlotte for a giant Westie convention, then the beach, the mountains, and lots of sidetrips along the way. Wish us luck and safe travels, and we'll post again soon!
