Baby, It's Cold Outside

You may have seen on the news that we were hit with many inches of snow, and it's all true! The first day of December gave us at least half a foot of snow, and today we're getting 3 to 5 more inches. If you know anything about Brandon and me, it's that we love playing in the snow...and watching snow fall from inside the house with the fire on. However, we have received a rude awakening: it's now too cold in Minnesota for the snow to be "play-able." That's right - no snowmen, no snowwesties, no snowballs. I have thrown fistfuls of the powdery snow at Brandon...but you don't get the satisfying thwack that you get from a real snowball. Brandon and I tried to pour a bucket of water on some snow so we could build a snowman, but alas, this plan failed. I have suggested that we go ice skating on the frozen pond in the backyard, but for some reason, Brandon's not willing to be the one to test it out. On the plus side, this snow isn't turning into sludge, so the town really looks beautiful still - not grey, but a beautiful, pristine white. Also, we're getting hours of amusement watching Pocky react to this snow. She tries to scoot along on the top of the snow, but invariable sinks down in it. And at least two or three times a day, she likes to run around frantically and make trenches outside of our door. I'll post a video below for your viewing pleasure. Oh, and just so you know - I'm not posing with that shovel in one of the first pictures just for fun! We really had to shovel out our patio (we use a patio door as our main entrance and exit). We were getting blocked in!

Hopefully, by our next post, we will have lots of pictures of snow activities. Until then, you'll just have to amuse yourselves by looking at these pictures and videos.
